How would you like to learn about living a less stressful life while also being entertained and inspired by an illuminating, fascinating true story? When you attend the August 14
session of Executive Book Review, you will. Rob Wicall, The artist formerly known as The Spurs Coyote will be reviewing “Living with the Monks: What Turning Off My Phone Taught Me about Happiness, Gratitude, and Focus.”

The author of “Living with the Monks” Jesse Itzler, is part owner of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, an entrepreneur, endurance athlete, and father of four who tends to operate at only one speed: all out! He thrives on extreme challenges. For example, he has finished a 100-mile marathon.

So, when he felt like he needed a self-imposed timeout to destress and decompress, what did he do? He moved into a Russian Orthodox monastery in upstate New York.

Soon after, he began second-guessing his decision and was overwhelmed by self-doubt. He missed his family and his phone, but he stayed true to his decision to remain for a period of time at the monastery.

The result? He developed a strong admiration for the monks and discovered the very real benefits of taking a much-needed break from our fast-paced world.
So, if like Jesse Itzler, you feel you don’t spend enough time in deep, focused thought, if you feel overwhelmed by the distractions of the modern world, and if you can’t wait to hear a compelling story about a fascinating individual, you will not want to miss this gathering of your fellow lifelong learners at Executive Book Review.
