 cant increase in the number of Black women enrolling in colleges and unive
 rsities\, as well as teaching within these institutions. However\, higher 
 enrollment numbers do not automatically translate to safety or acceptance.
  Dr. Harris challenges the prevailing narrative by highlighting that the v
 ery structures of higher education can create environments where Black wom
 en feel like guests\, rather than valued members of the academic community
 .\n\nThrough her personal experiences at Vassar\, Dr. Harris candidly addr
 esses the feelings of isolation and lack of agency that many Black women e
 ncounter. Her insights extend beyond mere statistics\; she sheds light on 
 the daily realities of navigating these academic spaces\, the long-term pr
 ofessional consequences\, and the generational impact on families.\n\nDr. 
 Harris aims to empower Black girls and women with the knowledge she wished
